The national government establishes closures of capture, processing, and commercialization of several aquatic species so that they can be developed and maintained. Some last for a few weeks, others for months, and some are permanent.
Those who engage in fishing activities must be based on the Law on Fishing and Fisheries Development. In this, article 43, literal B, establishes that one of the obligations of those who carry out fishing activities will be: «To be subject to the regulations on size, closed periods and other provisions related to the protection of resources, management of themselves and the technique, hygiene, and quality of production ”.
The sanction for those who do not comply with article 43, literal B of the Fishing Law is contemplated in article 71 of the Fishing Law: «fine of two to ten unified basic salaries of the worker in general ($800 to $4000 with the basic salary current unified) and imprisonment of 15 to 60 days, or with one of these penalties only.
