It is the most important technical commercial shrimp event on the continent that has been held for more than 20 years in Ecuador; organized by the National Chamber of Aquaculture, with the main objective of promoting knowledge and innovation of the aquaculture community, on a global scale.
It is made up of a trade fair and a scientific-technical congress. Hundreds of Ecuadorian and foreign companies participate in the fairgrounds, exposing the highlights of their portfolio of products and services. In the congress, topics of interest and importance for the aquaculture sector are addressed such as: prevention and management of diseases, nutrition and feeding practices, efficiency and technological innovations, crop diversification, genetic improvement, market trends, etc. Researchers and aquaculture professionals from around the world participate, presenting their most recent research and technological advances.
The success of Aqua Expo is evidenced in the sustainable and inclusive growth of the event, both in the number of participants in the trade fair and in the number of attendees at the congresses; this year it managed to adapt its virtual format to satisfy the preferences of its customers and attendees.

In this way, consumers gain the power to make an informed decision that allows them to bring healthy and responsibly farmed shrimp to their tables, ”he said.

For his part, the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, Iván Ontaneda highlighted the leading role that the Ecuadorian aquaculture industry has in the development of the country, as it is a fundamental pillar for the economy with the generation of more than 3,000 million dollars a year in foreign currency and more than 261 thousand direct and indirect jobs.
The event only allows the entry of professionals and students from the industry, but is not open to the general public as in previous years.
